A development opportunity has arisen at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, for an enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic and professional finance team as an Assistant Finance Manager within the Research and Development team. We can offer the right individual the opportunity to train towards a professional qualification in Accountancy, such as ACCA or CIMA, whilst developing their personal skills and work-based experience. This great opportunity will give the successful post-holder a spring-board into a financial career within the National Health Service. Brief Description of the Role:

The major responsibilities of the role are working with and assisting the Finance Manager in providing robust, accurate and timely information to budget holders on how much income they have generated and how much money they have spent. You will work as part of a team that facilitates the management and co-ordination of both contract commercial research and academic research, and play a key role in the expansion of research activity; concentrating on speed of setup and an efficient and effective contract review process. This opportunity arises at an exciting time from the outset of the Trust’s latest achievement as a National Patient Recruitment Centre. Covering the Research & Development Directorate, you will also be required to work confidently with the Research Management & Support Office and also external organisations, requiring agile working and effective communication.

 

Summary of most important Experience/Skills/Qualifications required:

The successful candidate will need at least 2 A Levels (or equivalent) and will have previously worked within a finance office environment. Relevant work experience within NHS finances would be an advantage but not a necessity, as will any experience and knowledge of working within a Research and Development setting. The successful candidate will also need to be computer literate, especially in the use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. They will also need to possess strong analytical skills, communication skills and be able to work to demanding deadlines.
