Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UK’s leading heart and lung hospital, treating around 50,000 patients each year. We are located in a new, purpose-built hospital on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, with administrative services based in Huntingdon.

Founded as a tuberculosis colony in 1918, Royal Papworth Hospital has established an international reputation for excellence in research and innovation. Since carrying out the UK’s first successful heart transplant in 1979, the hospital now performs more heart, heart-lung and lung transplants each year than any other UK centre.

In addition to transplantation, Royal Papworth Hospital has the UK’s largest Respiratory Support and Sleep Centre (RSSC) and is one of five UK centres providing Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) to patients experiencing severe respiratory failure. It is also the only centre in the UK for a number of specialist services including Pulmonary Endarterectomy and Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA).

In October 2019, we became the first trust to be rated ‘outstanding’ in all five areas assessed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) (safe, caring, effective, responsive, and well-led). We are committed to providing a positive, supportive experience for all of our staff.


Employee Relations Partner

Band 5 (£25,655 - £31,534)

Full time (37.5hrs) but welcome applications for flexible options

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Employee Relations partner to join our small but supportive values led and versatile Employee Relations team.

This post will support the Workforce Directorate in providing advice and support to managers and staff across the Trust with a range of ER matters, ensuring a quality service is provided responsive to meet the Trust’s objectives and values of Compassion, Excellence, and Collaboration.

You will use your experience to build effective relationships in line with the Trust HR business partnering model and support managers within your own accountable areas as well as assisting with complex ER issues within the whole Trust.

The post holder will be also be responsible for supporting workforce related training.

You will have a proven track record of delivering a high quality ER service, ideally within the NHS, as well as successful completion of CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Award or equivalent experience.

The post will be based at Royal Papworth Hospital on the Biomedical Campus in Cambridge but we do offer agile working at our administration offices in Huntingdon and remote working subject to the needs of the service.
