A vacancy has arisen within NAViGO’s Performance Team for a full time Band 7 Digital Programme Manager. We are looking for a highly motivated project manager with a passion for making a difference in mental health care. The candidate requires a good understanding of mental health services, as well as an understanding of the current structures within healthcare. The candidate should be able to demonstrate project management skills, positive outcomes, and have the knowledge to show how these skills will be able to make a difference within mental health care. The candidate will also require knowledge of digital services within healthcare and demonstrate knowledge of current technology trends and how these could be utilised in a healthcare environment. This will be a challenging but fulfilling role with the opportunity to work on a wide range of strategic digital projects.


Department summary

This role will be based in the Performance and Assurance Team which is part of NAViGO’s Infrastructure services. The team has a wide range of responsibilities including Information & Reporting, Digital Projects, Performance, and Assurance. The team consists of skilled individuals undertaking complex and demanding work often to tight timescales. The team prides itself on being innovative and responsiveness with a good team spirit.


Job summary

We are seeking an experienced Project/Programme manager to fulfil the role of Digital Systems Lead who will be responsible for implementing NAViGO’s Digital Strategy and vision. This will include enhancements to NAViGO’s EPR System, inclusive digitisation of care pathways and managing the implementation of strategic systems such as EPMA, Advanced Data Analytics, Service user access to services (service user portal), Electronic Prescribing, Office 365 and eRostering.


The Digital programme manager will also be responsible for implementing an effective Programme Office function including planning, scheduling, monitoring of projects and reporting progress and budget information. The Digital Programme Manager will be responsible for establishing and managing budgets to deliver the programme in agreement with the Head of Finance. The role will be responsible for bidding for finance from various funding sources available to the organisation to support projects.


The role will require structured programme and project planning using PRINCE II principles but also require delivery of products and developments using SCRUM Agile methodologies. The Digital Programme Manager must be confident and able to get the most out of teams using the two methodologies and be able to use the methodologies appropriately and for best effect to achieve rapid progress within a controlled structure that provides assurance of delivery and budget. The role will also provide supervision to a small team of staff.


The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to advise and influence executives and senior managers to ensure NAViGO maximises its investment in digital systems. You should be able to explain complex project and technical matters in a way understandable to target audiences. You will also have experience of supervising staff and be able to direct workload appropriately in line with organisational priorities. Experience in managing digital transformation of clinical services in a healthcare setting would be an advantage.
