Are you hard working, organised and looking to work as part as a team? If so Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Practice Nurse at Aldershot Medical Centre.

Acting as the Nurse you will provide appropriate Primary Health Care (PHC) nursing to the medical centre population at risk (PAR) in conjunction with the PHC multi-disciplinary team (MDT).

Furthermore, as the Nurse you will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care needs; medical screening and advice to patients within their professional competence in line with current policy, guidelines and utilising agreed evidence-based practice.

You will have a working understanding of the health needs of service effectively with the parent units, whilst maintaining confidentiality.

You will work within the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional conduct and adhere to all NMC standards and Ministry of Defence (MoD) guidelines.

As the successful candidate your main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining accurate electronic/written records in accordance with best practice and with regard to confidentiality.
  • Adhering to Defence Medical Services policy and local guidelines.
  • Triaging and treat minor injuries/illness as per agreed evidence-based practice.
  • Providing advice to patients on minor ailments and general health.
  • Contributing to the planning, implementation and evaluation of health promotion programmes

Essential criteria:

  • Live registration on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Register
  • A Degree, diploma or appropriate training as recognised by professional body in a relevant area

Professional/clinical knowledge acquired through training to degree/diploma level

Desierable - A minimum of 2 years post registration experience in addition to specified qualifications.

Desirable - Experience in Primary Healthcare, family planning, travel health, health surveillance, venepuncture, immunization, vaccination and screening

Desirable - The ability and willingness to teach and co-ordinate training of Military medical personnel working on placements within the Primary Healthcare setting (e.g. trained and untrained Medics, student Nurses and Health Care Assistants.)

If found successful for this position, you will be required to provide evidence of your immunity to Hepatitis B. Failure to provide evidence of your immunity may result in the offer of employment being withdrawn.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.
