This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, dynamic, inspirational and experienced Midwifery Leader to take forward our Midwifery, Women’s Health and Sexual Health Services within Powys Teaching Health Board as Assistant Head of Midwifery and Sexual Health services. The role is a key position within the Community Care and Mental Health Directorate and Health Board, with a prime focus on the delivery of high quality, safe, compassionate and effective Midwifery and Sexual Health provision in care. The postholder will be supported by the Senior Management team to develop and progress within the role.

 

This will be full time post to work in conjunction with the Midwifery and Sexual / Women’s health team for delivery of the Maternity Vision priorities, Sexual Health Improvement Plan and Women’s Health Implementation Group programme. The post holder will provide highly visible, authoritative clinical leadership in terms of strategy, operations and professional practice, in line with the Powys IMTP and Welsh Government Policy frameworks. The post holder will support the Head of Midwifery and Sexual Health Services to develop a robust infrastructure for Maternity services with a strong focus on ensuring that professional and clinical governance standards are met. The post holder will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and in particular be able to demonstrate proficiency in writing reports, policies and business cases.

 

The post-holder will support the Head of Midwifery and Sexual Health services with improving standards of care and patient/client experience, the delivery of agreed objectives, targets, and quality standards as per the IMTP and service plan. The post-holder will be an active member of Women and Children’s Service Manager group providing leadership and direction of the professional agenda in Powys. The post-holder is the Health Board expert on all matters pertaining to Maternity, Sexual Health and Women’s Health and will advise the Head of Midwifery and Sexual Health as well as the Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery, and wider members of the Executive Team, on the development and delivery of modern, effective Maternity, Sexual Health and Women’s Health service for the Powys population; They will also represent Powys on local, regional and national forums.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply
