Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UK’s leading heart and lung hospital, treating around 50,000 patients each year. We are located in a new, purpose-built hospital on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, with administrative services based in Huntingdon.

Since carrying out the UK’s first successful heart transplant in 1979, the hospital now performs more heart, heart-lung and lung transplants each year than any other UK centre.

In addition to transplantation, Royal Papworth Hospital has the UK’s largest Respiratory Support and Sleep Centre (RSSC) and is one of five UK centres providing Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) to patients experiencing severe respiratory failure. It is also the only centre in the UK for a number of specialist services including Pulmonary Endarterectomy and Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA).

ICT Assistant Support Technician

 Full Time (37 ½ hours per week)

Band 3
Salary range: £20,330 - £21,777 per annum (*Plus On-call allowance)

The ICT Department is responsible for the delivery of information systems and services to the whole organisation to support clinical and business integration. ICT leads in the development of ICT Technology strategy and directing all delivery programmes and services. ICT provides a range of critical ICT services many of which are in operational use 24 - 7.


The post holder will be expected to assist with all aspects of the day-to-day administration and management of the general IT environment as necessary, with particular emphasis on the Trust’s Service Desk, logging service and incident requests, desktop hardware, printing and client, application(s) and infrastructure environments


To provide technical assistance and support relating to software applications, IT equipment and user accounts management


The ICT Assistant Support Technician is to providing first line user support, in accordance with pre-determined standards and procedures.


This post holder will be responsible for providing initial technical support to users of computer systems throughout the Trust.


The post holder will have keen interest in Microsoft systems wishing to progress their careers in the IT industry


* You may be required to participate in a rotational on-call out of hours support service.


This Role may require multisite working at either our Huntington based administration centre or at the Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridge biomedical site. Predominantly the latter.
