Bolton NHS Foundation Trust was formed in 2008 and, in 2011, we became an integrated provider with community health services joining the trust. Covering a catchment area that also incorporates parts of Bury, Wigan and Salford, we deliver hospital and community based services from the Royal Bolton Hospital in Farnworth and from 20 health centres across Bolton, to a catchment population of 320,000 people. We have a CQC rating as good overall and we have some key areas of outstanding practice with an outstanding rating for being well led at every level.

Acute Adult Care Division

Band 4 Medical Secretary, Specialist Medicine

 

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is an integrated provider of acute, intermediate and community health care serving the population of Bolton. This provides us with an opportunity for our services to work closely with our partners in primary care and the local authority to ensure a seamless service for our patients.

The Acute Adult Care Division is one of four Clinical Divisions in the Trust that includes Emergency Care, Complex Care and Specialist Medicine. The Division contains the busiest single site Emergency Department in Greater Manchester and has inpatient wards providing acute medicine, rehabilitation and specialist medicine services. It provides a range of specialist out-patient and community services and is committed to providing excellent clinical performance and patient care.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, enthusiastic and highly organised individual with previous experience in a similar setting to join our Gastroenterology Medical Secretarial team. You will work alongside other Senior Medical Secretaries, to carry out clinical typing, co-ordination of patient’s case notes/test results, appointments, telephone messages amongst other general office duties.

Candidates should be articulate, capable of undertaking a demanding workload and must be able to demonstrate a significant level of initiative. Candidates should possess advanced keyboard skills including a high standard of word processing skills to RSA III or equivalent level qualification /experience, also GCSE English Language and Maths grade C or above. Previous medical secretarial experience, knowledge of medical terminology and audio typing is essential.

You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to prioritise workload. You should be able to integrate well with the existing team and have a genuine desire to provide a quality service to all patients and knowledge of the NHS are desirable.

Interviewees will be asked to complete a typing test.

One full time post 37.5 hours between Monday to Friday, hours/days to be agreed with successful candidate
