The role of the IM will be to provide those technology transfer services and the wider MidTECH service to NHS organisations in the region.
These services include –
- Meeting with new innovators and departments in the NHS in the region to discuss new ideas and innovations (mainly via TEAMS but potential to travel to different locations in the region and beyond on occasion).
- Assessment of new idea disclosures, both in terms of intellectual property (IP) and market potential
- Offering of IP advice and strategy development.
- Developing contacts and negotiations with commercial organisations.
- Reviewing and drafting of certain agreements and documents.
- Assisting with the IP and commercial aspects of funding applications.

- Working with organisations to help them develop their innovation strategies and processes.
- Offering IP and innovation training to organisations.
This role will ideally suit a candidate with experience of technology transfer, intellectual property, contract management and business development, although not necessarily in healthcare as we believe the skills are transferable (although healthcare and NHS experience is clearly desirable).
We are looking for a high calibre candidate to join a small dynamic team and be ready to hit the ground running, picking up an exciting portfolio of projects across the region which have the potential to offer real benefit to patients and the economy.
COVID-19 vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course our patients from the virus when working in our healthcare settings.
We do encourage our staff to get vaccinated. We will be checking the vaccination status of all new starters so that we can manage individual and environmental risks, and so that we can support those who may be undecided about vaccination. If you are unvaccinated there is helpful advice and information at birminghamandsolihullcovidvaccine.nhs.uk where you can also find out more about how to access vaccination.
Please note that staff recruited from outside of the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order (as amended) and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
