Remote working “Virtual“ Community General Adult Psychiatrist

Genuinely unique.

This describes Solent NHS trust and the successful candidate for this post. The successful applicant will be a full time General Adult Community Psychiatrist working up to 100% remotely from the service itself. This model has been trialled at length locally by current consultants showing itself to be liked by both clinicians and patients.

We love Portsmouth, and we would love you to join us, providing care for the population of Portsmouth but with the opportunity to do this from wherever you choose. This allows for the consultant to live anywhere in the UK (or even overseas with appropriate accreditation) and work flexibly and productively to meet service and their own personal needs. The role may also suit clinicians who may have commitments (families, caring etc) elsewhere and hence find the move to a new location difficult.

The role is within an Assessment and Intervention team (A2I) for all new working age referrals to secondary care in Portsmouth. This is a large multidisciplinary team with high staff /patient ratio. The target is to create a rounded care plan that can be delivered in primary care, with the support of tertiary services, within 6 months. This avoids unnecessary long periods of traditional low intensity CMHT, input. The clinical part of the job comprises patient contact and care (normally remote), with additional MDT discussion, and direct working with GPs. Peer consultants in the team are already in post to see patients face to face who are unable to receive care remotely.

The option of working in “physical space” is available and a candidate choosing to work “on site” would be welcome to apply and would receive our same enthusiasm for their way of working.

Record keeping, administration and prescribing is all electronic in nature using established software packages that are likely to be familiar to you already. (MS Teams, Attend Anywhere ) Your multidisciplinary peers are available remotely and it is expected that you will be a clinician, a leader, a teacher, a team member, and innovator whilst not necessarily always in the same physical space.
