We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with Adult Mental Health experience to join our Community Mental Health service.

You, as the successful applicant will be working closely with Occupational Therapists throughout the AMH care pathways (inpatient, Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team, Assessment to Intervention Team and Community Intensive Rehab Team) to enable a positive patient experience through the care pathways. The post will involve service development opportunities to enable AMH services to meet the increased demand on their services following COVID.

The Community Mental Health Recovery Teams are a community based multi-disciplinary mental health service located in Portsmouth. We provide assessment and evidence-based treatment for patients with suspected or diagnosed severe mental illness / mental disorder who for reasons of complexity, high risk or functional impairment requiring specialist secondary care input.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • To guide the team on the appropriate use of therapeutic risk-taking during MDT discussions, using specialist Occupational Therapy and mental health knowledge.
  • To meet the needs of service users with an effective, efficient and recovery focused approach.
  • Provide occupational focused assessment, formulation, care plan, and intervention to patients with complex functional needs in their own homes and communities.
  • Evaluate Occupational Therapy interventions, consider ongoing needs of the patient and identity opportunities for longer term support when required. For example, within primary care services, third sector or another service within the Community Mental Health Recovery Team
  • To develop, facilitate and evaluate a group work programme.
  • Clinically supervise the Band 5 Occupational Therapist and junior team members.
