We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Nurse to join our new Fibromyalgia Service hosted by Solent MSK Physiotherapy for 8 hours per week. This is a pilot service which will run until April 2022, when the aspiration is that the service and post/s will become substantive.

Previous experience working with patients with musculoskeletal or rheumatological conditions is required but specific work with fibromyalgia patients is not essential. Successful candidates will be supported with their training needs for this specific role.

Qualifications required are:

  • BSc Hons AHP/ Nursing or equivalent

  • Health Professions Council Registration or NMC

Solent MSK Service prides itself on its high-quality patient care and service delivery. There is extensive CPD support and opportunities within the service and our Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists are at the forefront of delivering training and pathway development.

Development of the Fibromyalgia service is supported by our Rheumatology Clinical Physiotherapy Lead and Solent Academy of Research and Improvement.

Based at the Adelaide Centre in Southampton the successful post holder will work as part of a team of therapists providing education and exercise interventions for fibromyalgia patients, primarily in a group setting. The post holder will be required to work on Tuesdays 10-14.00 and Wednesdays 10.30-14.30.

There is an expectation that post holders will be involved in supporting the additional background research that will be taking place to review the effectiveness and outcomes of the patient programs. There will also be the opportunity to provide some education sessions to our community partners about fibromyalgia and the new pathway.

Personal Skills/Qualities required are:

  • Excellent Communication Skills, written and verbal

  • Experience in delivering health care advice and guidance to patients in a group setting
