We currently have an exciting placement opportunity within the Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust which will allow the successful candidate to gain regular shifts and valuable experience within a unique environment.

Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust was one of twenty successful recipients of the first wave of the Perinatal Community Services Development Funds and as a result we are a growing team committed to providing a quality service that is dynamic to meet the needs of our population working to ensure access to perinatal mental health services are equitable across the whole of Berkshire. Berkshire Healthcare is part of the Thames Valley Regional Perinatal Mental Health Network and the Berkshire Perinatal Steering Group contributes to regional service development.

We currently require a Band 6 perinatal clinician to join a team providing specialist perinatal mental health services across the whole of Berkshire for 12 weeks. The post will be based mostly in Wokingham. Please note that due to COVID-19 restrictions, the majority of clinical work/interventions will be conducted via telephone and video consultation. Any community based visits will be conducted using provided PPE.

This is an opportunity to work in a developing service providing assessment and intervention for women requiring secondary mental health services during the perinatal period. This includes initial assessment and care coordination.

Excellent communication and liaison skills are essential to ensure that the links and relationships already developed by the team are maintained to deliver a high quality and responsive perinatal mental health service.

Locations covered: The Old Forge, Wokingham. Please note that you may be required to work at or from any additional location as may be determined by the Trust from time to time.


  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 9am – 5pm

Band 6 – Example Rate

  • Day Rate - £20.35 per hour
  • Night/Sat Rate - £26.16 per hour
  • Sun/Bank Holiday Rate - £31.97 per hour


  • Perinatal interest, experience and / or passion to work in this field


  • Willingness to work with many other professionals
  • Clean driving licence
  • Very good assessment and risk assessment skills
  • Able to think and make decisions quickly and autonomously
