Join the team at the St Mary’s Hospital, Warrington (easily accessible from anywhere in the NW; just off the motorway) to deliver high-quality clinical service to service users across four wards, comprising of 67 beds in total..
St Mary's Hospital offers a range of learning opportunities for supporting service users within the secure,locked rehabilitation, autism spectrum, and a 4-bedded acute ward. Many service users have a brain injury resulting in a mental disorder.
There will be two specialty doctors working across two wards each, with three full time Consultants (with a range of experience in neuro-psychiatry, learning disability, forensic, and Deafness), where you will be allocated a dedicated supervisor. The lead Consultant was awarded the NW Consultant of the Year award in 2020 by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Some Consultants have active links with local University and local medical school for teaching, and also with the GMC and Royal College of Psychiatrists.
You will have access to a half day of CPD on a Friday afternoon, and will be supported for CESR, AC approval, Section 12 (2) status (if required), and study leave throughout the year for your appraisal.
You will have opportunities for research and audit,as well as opportunities to feed into a regular monthly medics’ meeting and to grow your CV.
There will be on-call duties with opportunities for voluntary paid extra locum shifts, have time off in lieu for on-calls worked, and lunches are provided free of charge daily.
There will be great learning opportunities as you work with the multi-disciplinary team, which is comprised of the ConsultantPsychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist, Nursing team, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Social Workers, Forensic Psychotherapist, Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, Physical Health team and Visiting GP.
There are active service user and staff forums at St Mary's Hospital, and you’ll have the support of your peers across the NW regional Elysium Hospitals that regularly meet up.
