IT Change Manager

This is an excellent opportunity to manage the IT Department’s change management process and providing leadership on enhancements to the process to not only support the department’s existing ITIL processes, but also to drive continuous service improvements.

The Role:

You will be responsible for the change management process, authorisation of changes, updating and maintaining the related policies, processes and procedures.

The aim of the role is to reduce any unnecessary and unplanned downtime as well as working with stakeholders to identify the business impact of the changes.

You will:

  • Design and implement an efficient, effective and flexible change control process to support all IT functions.
  • Design and implement a release management process across all areas of the IT department.
  • Provide the primary focus of release and change management within the department and host change board discussions.
  • Work with stakeholder to under the business impact of changes.
  • Make the forward schedule of changes more visible and relevant to the individuals involved.
  • Keep lanned downtime of services to a minimum.
  • Reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Provide reports to the department’s senior leadership team to include statistics and narrative of changes, including but not limited successes, failures and unplanned changes etc.

NHS Band 6 salaries will be considered depending on candidates’ experience.

Ideal candidate:

  • Experience in creating and implementing relationships and dependencies within the CMDB.
  • Experience in managing change, release and capacity planning.
  • Experience in designing and implementing a knowledge base of known issues with the various systems and infrastructure configuration.
  • Experience of monitoring change activity to ensure that the change management process is being followed by Trust employees and 3rd parties.
  • Experience of working with stakeholders to develop testing programmes and create tools and tests that determine that changes will be successful.
  • Experience of providing and maintaining all documentation relating to the change and release process and providing training on the use of these processes to internal staff and 3rd parties.
  • Experience of developing the change management process to ensure it is more closely aligned with the operational processes and policies of the Trust.
  • Experience of producing regular reports on the effectiveness of the change and release processes and implementation of recommendations.
  • Experience of investigating failed or incomplete changes to determine if useful lessons can be learned and working with other teams to reduce the number of failed changes.
  • Experence of working with stakeholders to understand and predict the implications of changes to systems in a complex heterogeneous infrastructure.
  • Experience of communicating changes to the affected stakeholders in a clear, consistent and transparent manner, including explaining the need for the change.
  • Experience of providing internal auditing and monitoring to prevent the implementation of unauthorised changes.

The IT department has 80+ staff with abroad range of skills and experiences. We pride ourselves on our culture of ‘working together' for the benefit of patients. We are located less than a mile from Fratton train station, in a recently refurbished building with great facilities and free parking.
