The National Collaborative Commissioning Unit (NCCU), hosted by Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is the collaborative commissioning service of NHS Wales. Our vision is "Leading quality assurance and improvement for NHS Wales through collaborative commissioning" and we deliver national commissioning programmes on behalf of a wide range of customers.

We are looking for a highly driven and enthusiastic Business Intelligence Developer / Technical Data Analyst to join our corporate team in supporting our commitment to deliver data and insight to our teams and NHS colleagues across Wales.

The ideal candidates will combine a blend of strong technical skills with a technical flair in developing and coordinating key data flows into our warehouse environment to include production of business intelligence from this data. The ideal candidates will also support national work-streams including but not limited to the Urgent and Emergency Care Programme, Quality Assurance and Improvement Service and Ambulance Services Indicators.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to take the next step in their career whilst supporting national work-streams. If you are someone with the drive to improve patient outcomes, with the desire and aptitude to implement technical initiatives while having the ability to ensure it meets the needs of the end user in a then non-technical way then this role is perfect for you.

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in Health and Care data, whilst demonstrating proficiency in database methodologies, Structured Query Language (SQL), data modelling, Microsoft PowerBI and Qlik.

Experience of working in the NHS and clinical knowledge would be advantageous; however, practical experience and knowledge of the following would be particularly desirable:

  • SQL proficiency
  • PowerBI proficiency
  • Database administration, maintenance and monitoring skills
  • Managing both internal and external stakeholder requirements, expectations
  • Delivering technically innovative solutions in a timely manner
  • Comprehensive documentation skills
  • Problem solving ability
  • Proficient communication ability (verbal and written)

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

A question based written test will form part of the interview process, this will be completed during the interview.
