Band 6 Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist

1.5 wte – Full/Part time applications

Postholders will be agile workers working across the Barnsley area alongside a multi-disciplinary team of nurses, AHPs, primary care clinicians and respiratory consultants within our Integrated Neighbourhood Teams.

 

We have an exciting opportunity for people wishing to develop and expand their respiratory scope of practice within Barnsley, support patients with a range of respiratory conditions, including those WHO present with Post-COVID Syndrome/Long COVID.

This post holder will work across the respiratory and enduring rehabilitation pathways teams supported by physiotherapists, occupational therapists and nurses within our Neighbourhood Teams and specialist services. We aim to improve outcomes for the people we support and maximise access to services through integrated working. Our Neighbourhood Teams aim to maintain people within their own homes/communities wherever possible.

The aim of our service is to deliver respiratory care to prevent admissions and readmissions, with a focus on the long-term management of those with COPD, Asthma, Bronchiectasis, Interstitial Lung Disease & Long Covid-19. We are part of a wider integrated team providing specialist respiratory nursing, home oxygen assessment services and pulmonary rehabilitation. We’re working with partners to develop our service offer to include Covid rehabilitation / support pathways.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a complex patient case load supporting patients in their own home / long term place of residence and in a clinic and group setting. Within the role candidates will be expected to provide support, including but not limited to, chest clearance, breathlessness management and anxiety management.

The post holder will be expected to stay up-to date with new emerging evidence and evidence-based practice for Post-COVID Syndrome/Long Covid and respiratory illness/management and be able to utilise this to continue to develop our services moving forward.

 

There is a strong network of health professionals across the Trust with clear professional leadership and regular supervision within the profession. The Trust offers excellent opportunities for continuing development and training alongside specific In-Service training.

 

The use of a vehicle to undertake any necessary travel in connection with the duties of the post is essential along with the ability to work flexibly including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
