We are committed to being responsive and forward thinking in our response to COVID and as part of our Trust wide reset plan we are recruiting to a number of new posts to expand our CAMH Services as they work to meet increasing impact of COVID on children’s and young people mental health. This is an exciting time to join our dedicated and supportive team as we recruit to a number of positions across nursing, psychology, psychiatry, psychotherapy and more. We look forward to hearing from you.

What is it like to work for CAMHS?

A few words from a member of the team -

'I joined the CAMHS West team in February 2019. I received an excellent induction and through the years I have accessed numerous training to enhance my skills base. The support that I get is invaluable. Perhaps for the first time in my career in health and social care I feel I am more than just a number and that my presence here matters. Despite the job being sometimes challenging, I can truly say that I never have that “Sunday night feeling” anymore. I think that says it all.'

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 full-time posts, to be a part of a supportive and innovative child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) in Southampton. The Children and Young People’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT) is a service transformation programme delivered by Health Education England and partners that aims to improve existing children and young people’s mental health Services (CYP CAMHS) working in the community. Southampton CAMHS follows the principles and structure of CYP IAPT with Psychological Well Being Practitioners working being integrated fully within CAMHS and receiving high quality supervision from trained CBT therapists.

The post–holder will work, under supervision, within CAMHS as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high-quality, brief, outcome-focussed, evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, using Cognitive and behavioural Techniques. This will also include group interventions, based on CBT principles. We will provide training and support around System 1 and the service specific ways of working to equip the post-holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value driven service. Part of the job plan will include participating in generic CAMHS work, including participating in the duty rota and routine assessments for the service (training will be provided).

This is a great opportunity to join our team in Solent NHS Trust Children & Families Service line to support in the delivery of high-quality children’s mental health services. We are looking for exceptional individuals with the right attitude, skills and knowledge who share our passion to deliver the best quality care experience for children and their families.

If you wish to have an informal conversation regarding the post please contact Satty Basra on 02381 030061.
