PA to Head of Midwifery - band 4 - Maternity - 30hpw part time - fixed term 12 month maternity cover



The maternity service at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is evolving. Currently responsible for the care of approximately 2300 births each year, primarily living in the Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Thetford, Sudbury, Haverhill and surrounding areas. Current changes and improvements are being made to the midwifery service and with significant investment and support from the Trust Board. Due to imminent Maternity Leave we require a Personal Assistant for the Head of Midwifery and provide support for the maternity and gynaecology matrons.


The successful candidate will provide effective and efficient administrative and personal assistance support to the Midwifery Management team. This support will enable the provision of a high quality, professional and proactive service to all internal and external stakeholders of the department.

The main duties of the job are;

  • Being the key point of contact for the senior management team, in relation to internal and external stakeholders, dealing with and redirecting enquiries and requests as appropriate.
  • Providing knowledge and experience of a full range of administrative procedures to colleagues. The post holder will be required to communicate with staff and managers at all levels on a regular basis delivering excellent customer service.
  • Providing secretary support to several key forums, including the organisation of, preparation and follow up.
  • Diary management, including arranging meetings and booking travel and accommodation
  • Mailbox management for the team
  • Being responsible for the development and maintenance of records and providing a professional service that meets all legislative and policy requirements.
