Quality Administrator - Genetics Laboratory

Band 4, 37.5hours per week, full time


In response to NHS England’s recent Strategy and Service Specification for the future of Genomics services in England, Newcastle Teaching Hospitals, Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Sheffield Children’s Trust and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals have formed the Yorkshire and North East Genomics Laboratory Hub; an exciting collaboration to provide services for Genomics across Yorkshire and Humber and the North. The combined size of our geography makes this the largest collaboration in the country with the Trusts offering a range of both general and specialist hospital services with excellent clinical outcomes for patients. We have an international reputation for excellence in specialist care, research and academic training.

We are now looking to recruit to a permanent Band 4 Quality Administrator post for the Yorkshire and North East Genomic Laboratory Hub (Y&NE GLH) Central Laboratory based at St James’s University Hospital in Leeds.


The role responsibilities include:


  • Administration and monitoring of laboratory quality activities including audit, key performance indicators and incident reporting.

  • Administration of laboratory document management system.

  • Participation in quality activities including audit, equipment management, environment monitoring and update of documentation.

  • Membership of laboratory quality team.

    The role will demand excellent organisational skills, an understanding of service and/or quality improvement processes, the ability to work to deadlines and manage time effectively, to work independently, and exceptional attention to detail. Knowledge of ISO15189:2012 quality management systems will be an advantage, but full training will be provided.

If you are offered a position, you may be required to undertake a DBS. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £48 or Standard £30) from your salary over a 3 month period (including Internal staff). You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £13 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment. DBS checks for volunteers are free.
