Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UK’s leading heart and lung hospital, treating around 50,000 patients each year. We are located in a new, purpose-built hospital on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, with administrative services based in Huntingdon.

Since carrying out the UK’s first successful heart transplant in 1979, the hospital now performs more heart, heart-lung and lung transplants each year than any other UK centre.

In addition to transplantation, Royal Papworth Hospital has the UK’s largest Respiratory Support and Sleep Centre (RSSC) and is one of five UK centres providing Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) to patients experiencing severe respiratory failure. It is also the only centre in the UK for a number of specialist services including Pulmonary Endarterectomy and Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA).

Executive Assistant to Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Band 5: £24,907 to £30,615 per annum (Full time position)

World renowned Royal Papworth Hospital, the cardiothoracic centre of excellence and rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC, and Digital Exemplar, is looking for an Executive Assistant to join our award-winning team.

Now is an excellent time to consider a career move to Royal Papworth Hospital. We have an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Executive Assistant to join our small team, supporting mainly the Chief Information Officer, but also the other members of our Board.

The CIO has a wide ranging and exciting portfolio and therefore requires a dynamic individual who is able to keep pace with the challenging demands of this role and the wider Digital senior management team, whilst remaining calm under pressure.

You will have excellent communication skills together with exceptional organisational and administrative abilities. Responsibilities will include extensive diary management, servicing of Board level committees which will include ensuring meetings are efficiently organised, minuted and facilitating the effective flow of business between meetings. Efficient administrative support for the high-level projects undertaken by our award-winning Digital team to support EPR systems and Shared Care Record Projects will be pivotal to this role.

This is a diverse and demanding role that requires high levels of confidentiality, an innate ability to prioritise under your own initiative, whilst having a flexible approach to the demands of this role whilst working closely with your EA colleagues to provide a professional support service to the Executive team.

Applicants must possess excellent secretarial and digital skills, a natural attention to detail, together with relevant experience of working for a Director/Senior Manager in a large organisation.
