We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated Therapy Assistant Practitioner (Band 4) or Trainee Therapy Assistant Practitioner (Band 3) to join the Neuro-rehab Team at NDHT.

If you are recruited into the Therapy Assistant Practitioner, your salary will be £21,892 - £24,157 per annum pro rata.

If you are recruited into the Trainee Therapy Assistant Practitioner, your salary will be £19,737 - £21,142 per annum pro rata.

The post will be based within the Stroke and neuro Early Supported Discharge Team; a community based team offering specialist intensive rehab to patients with a diagnosis of stroke or a new neurological condition in order to improve their mobility, fitness, everyday living skills and quality of life. The Neuro-rehab service has a positive profile within the Trust and with service users, and is recognised as being an innovative and progressive team.

The role of the assistant practitioner is to hold a delegated caseload, carrying out assessments, treatment intervention and evaluation in line with own competence. The successful applicant to the role of therapy assistant practitioner will be required to demonstrate knowledge of a range of neurological presentations, and have proven experience of working with Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. The post holder will be required to hold a relevant Foundation Degree.

There is also the opportunity for this post to be a developmental Trainee Assistant Practitioner post (Band 3) which will give the successful candidate the opportunity to complete the Assistant Practitioner Foundation Degree programme within a defined time period. In order to be considered applicants will need to demonstrate previous therapy experience, working with physiotherapists and occupational therapists. The successful applicant will need to hold a Level 2 QCF in Health and Social Care or equivalent, GCSE grade C or above in both English and Maths or equivalent L2 Functional Skills in English and Maths. They will need to have completed the Care Certificate or equivalent (which is usually linked to time in practice with your organisation). If you are new to the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust you will complete your Care Certificate alongside your Assistant Practitioner programme. Please note enrolment on the Assistant Practitioner Foundation Degree programme is also dependent on successful application to Petroc.

They will demonstrate organisation, good IT skills, initiative and flexible-thinking as well as an ability to work in a team and enjoy a challenge. Please note that the successful candidate will be required to have the ability to travel. There is also a requirement to contribute to the Neuro-rehab weekend roster.
