Adults and Older Persons Mental Health welcomes experienced qualified nurses, general and mental health trained who are looking to pursue and develop their careers within our Adults and our Older Persons Mental Health Inpatient services.

You will embark on a challenging yet supportive career with training and career development opportunities. Our enthusiastic and dedicated multi-disciplinary teams work in a purpose-built unit in the tranquil grounds of St James Hospital, Portsmouth.

We are the primary provider of inpatient mental health services in Portsmouth and we are proud to offer a seamless journey for patients, based upon their needs and risks to ensure that care and treatment is assessed and provided in the least restrictive environment. A key factor in our success is the close working relationships between our community and inpatient services, who work together for the benefit of the patient and their family.

Solent’s Mental Health Services cover a variety of different services including inpatient facilities for both adults and older persons, community services including rehab, crisis and health and wellbeing, IAPT Talking Change and learning disabilities. We require motivated and caring individuals to assist in our commitment to providing and maintaining high standards of quality care that is both evidence based, and person centered. Personal Skills/Qualities

  • Has the ability/willingness to provide leadership and management responsibilities

  • Has a positive attitude to working with mental health service users

  • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines to agreed quality standards

  • Able to communicate effectively in writing, verbally and via IT systems

  • Has experience in acting as a supervisor or mentor
