Are you passionate about Older People and their mental health?

We are looking to recruit a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist to work with older people with complex mental health difficulties in our Community Mental Health Services for Older People in Doncaster. The service provides care to older people with mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, complex emotional and relational needs disorder and psychosis, as well as for people with dementia and their supporters.

The responsibilities will include the provision of psychological assessment (including neuropsychology) and therapy to older people and in community and clinic setting, to be a source of advice to the multi-professional team on psychological issues and to offer consultation and advice to other mental health and physical health professionals. Supervision of a trainee clinical psychologist and contribution to service development will also be required for candidates at 8a level.

This post offers opportunities for developing specialist skills in working with older people presenting with the full range of mental health difficulties, including neuropsychological assessment, psychosocial interventions and working with complex behaviours that challenge. CPD and engagement with our wider professional networks is supported and there is a strong focus on supervision (clinical and specialist neuropsychological supervision). We have strong links to the Sheffield Clinical Psychology Doctorate to develop supervisory skills.

The post could be appointed either as a preceptorship towards an 8a role for the right applicant wishing to develop from a band 7 or be appointed at 8a. Responsibilities would be adjusted accordingly.

Please note candidates need to be qualified clinical psychologists (or about to qualify) and registered with the Health Care Professions Council or clearly state on their application how they are planning to achieve this registration.
