This post offers an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist wishing to further develop their knowledge and skills within mental health services for older people, in particular dementia, providing evidence based Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment.

Based in the inpatient ward at Doncaster, you will be joining a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team and have an opportunity to contribute to service quality and developments within community services.

You will work alongside the multidisciplinary team to assess the occupational and vocational needs of older people with dementia and severe and enduring mental health problems enabling them to maintain independent living skills, access community-based services and support their carers.

  • Post registration experience of working in mental health services, in particular experience of working with people with dementia is desirable.
  • You should be committed to person centred care and positive risk management
  • You will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team alongside a variety of qualified and support staff as well as developing links with external agencies and community resources to provide high standards of care for services users and support for their families.
  • You should be a confident and effective communicator with service users and carers, staff of all professional groups as well as with external partner agencies.
  • You should be passionate about the contribution of Occupational Therapy in mental health services for older adults and have a specialist interest in dementia care and falls prevention.
