This is an exciting opportunity for a 12 month secondment or fixed term position working to improve the lives of Children and Families within Solent NHS Trust.

Within Child and Family Services the post holder serves as one of the three senior strategic roles which complete the ‘Service Line Triumvirate’, working alongside the Clinical Director (CD) and Operational Director (OD). As Head of Quality and Professions you will be responsible and accountable for the quality of clinical care and services (including patient safety) delivered across Child and Family Services.

The Head of Quality and Professions in partnership with the CD and OD will develop service line strategies, ensuring the delivery of targets and foster positive partnerships across the service line, organisation and with external partners including the ICS/ICP.

You will provide a common vision to make a difference by keeping more people healthy, safe and independent at or close to home and ownership of the organisational Values of ‘Honesty, Everyone Counts, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork’ (HEART). You will be expected to demonstrate these behaviours in your daily encounters with patients, colleagues and other key stakeholders.

As a key senior role within the Service Line Triumvirate, you will take a lead in the delivery of the Child and Family clinical strategy, taking responsibility for specific projects aligned with quality to ensure ongoing delivery of high quality care underpinned by strong and effective governance and leadership.

You will be the Professional Lead for all Nursing, Allied Health Professionals and non-registrants who are delivering care within the service line, being clinically accountable for this professional group. Alongside this, you will be operationally responsible for the development of Service Line Quality Priorities as well as Clinical Governance, workforce development and clinical supervision processes.

You will provide direct line management and supervision to clinicians across the service line when required, including recruitment, appraisals, CPD and performance management as well as clinical leadership and role modelling to the Nursing and Allied Health Professionals across the organisation.

You will be expected to represent both the service line and the Trust internally and externally, acting as a specialist in the field of Clinical Governance and Professional Standards. The role will require you to provide expert guidance and leadership across Nursing and Allied Healthcare Professional disciplines for the designated Service Line, with a specific focus on quality and safety, and to be a role model for safe, effective and high-quality care for our patients and service users.
