We are seeking a fully qualified and GDC registered, enthusiastic dental technician to join our extended, multi-disciplinary dental team.

The successful candidate will have good knowledge and of all fixed and removeable dental prostheses. Practical experience in metalwork and ceramics including implants, veneers, crowns and bridges is preferable. The candidate should also have a working knowledge or experience of CADCAM production processes.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, enthusiastic and willing to adopt new technical practices. Mentorship within the construct of implant-supported restorations and CADCAM workflows will be available to the right candidate.

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Constructing a wide range of dental prostheses, surgical stents and simple orthodontic appliances.
  • Providing laboratory support for implant surgery including 3D treatment planning and manufacture of surgical stents.
  • Engagement with patients and clinical staff to ensure the patient is managed efficiently and effectively.
  • Utilising CAD technology within the laboratory.

Essential Criteria:

  • Must be GDC registered and hold a suitable, recognised qualification.
  • Must have sufficient post-qualification crown and bridge experience and be able to work independently.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Have sufficient post-qualification experience of prosthetics and be able to produce simple acrylic dentures and occasional implant retained dentures.
  • Have sufficient training and knowledge to be able to produce simple orthodontic appliances (Hawley retainer).

The selection at sift will be based on your CV. At interview you will be tested against the following NHS Key Skills Framework:

  • NHS Core– NHSC4 –Service Improvement
  • NHS Core – NHSC5 – Quality

This interview will require a technical skill task (bench test) and will be carried out observing the appropriate COVID safety measures at this time.

This will include the following:

  • Layering of ceramic on crown and bridge substructures.

There is no requirement to deploy to other locations in this post but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients.
