Senior Restorative Technician

The Maxillofacial department at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, forward-thinking Senior Restorative Dental Technician to join the multi-disciplinary team. We are looking for an individual to fill a vacant post and produce a range of appliances and prostheses in cooperation with the restorative clinicians provision of a quality patient centred service.

 

The Department

The MFU has a team of specialists who provide Orthodontic, Oral Surgery and Restorative Dentistry as part of dental and surgical MDT care. We have a well-established MFU laboratory with highly skilled specialist technicians who provide support for post-surgery rehabilitation and complex care. The MFU has dedicated Orthodontic clinics, day case operating theatres and a suite of clinic rooms for Maxillofacial, Oral Surgery and Restorative dentistry. The department also has its own X-Ray facilities including CBCT.

The main outpatient department is situated at the Queen Alexandra Hospital site, however, we run peripheral outpatient clinics across South Hampshire, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight.

The post is primarily in support of the Prosthetics Restorative team, which supports a three Consultant led service encompassing all aspects of denture work. This entails both conventional and prosthetics supported by milled fixed beam components.

There is also a shared responsibility to support the Orthodontic and Maxillofacial team within the laboratory, when needed.

The applicant should possess experience in Fixed and Removable Prosthetics, with evident knowledge and experience in implant work.

 

Job Role

  • Join a team that provides patient specific appliances to the MFU department at PHT to support the Maxillofacial Department Oncology, Orthognathic and Restorative Dental services.

  • Attend clinics and theatres to give technical support and advice to MFU clinicians, when necessary.

  • Maintain and develop local services by innovation and best practice.

  • Provide training and support for junior staff.

Qualities

  • Enthusiastic and motivated.

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Experienced with a good grounding in dental technology.

  • Full GDC registration.
