Are you organised and efficient with great attention to detail? Do you like problem solving? If so, data analytics might be for you! South Western Ambulance Service has an exciting opportunity available for a Data Science Apprentice within the Forecasting & Capacity Planning Team.

Resource management is the efficient and effective deployment and allocation of recourses. What does that mean? For South Western Ambulance Service this means the planning of staff hours to shifts. It means making sure we have enough staff and enough ambulances working at all times to make sure we can be there whenever and wherever our patients need us. It means saving lives!

The successful applicant will join the Forecasting & Capacity Planning Team, a fast paced, dynamic and progressive department responsible for all facets of Forecasting, Capacity & Demand Planning and Resource Management reporting. They will help contribute to the development and day to day running of reporting, and gain experience using SQL, Tableau, Python, Power BI & R.

Applicants must have a GCSE level qualification in literacy and numeracy, excellent IT skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel, Word and Outlook. Previous experience of working in a busy office environment, excellent problem solving skills and experience working with sensitive data will be essential. Any experience in SQL or data analysis would be beneficial.

Applicants will be given the opportunity to either study a BSc in Digital Technology Solutions or a BSc in Data Science.
