We are looking for Specialist Podiatrists with the ability to demonstrate a high level of expertise and knowledge in at least one of the following areas: At Risk foot or MSK & Nail surgery. Your role will involve provision of expert specialist assessment, treatment and advice for patients with foot disease affecting the foot and ankle who may have acute, complex and/or chronic presentations. You will preferably have up-to-date IRMER training with knowledge of infection management, offloading and indications for further tests and investigations. You should have a proven track record of clinical experience and CPD in these areas.

  • You will need good communication skills, be a team player, demonstrate a flexible approach to a busy caseload
  • Have strong clinical reasoning and leadership skills to ensure our service is evidence based and delivered to a high standard.
  • You will be supported by the clinical lead and advanced practitioners within the service

Our team meets regularly as a whole and as localities for Podiatry target meetings where we receive training and share ideas and developments for the service. We pride ourselves on being a supportive team where we encourage each other, provide advice and support in ensuring we deliver the optimal patient care. This is achieved by minimizing lone working, regular peer review with mentors and action learning sets with colleagues.

The Solent Podiatry Team live in a vibrant part of the country with access to the city and the beautiful coast and countryside. There are good access and links to the local airports. We have strong links with Southampton University for extended learning opportunities and are key in providing clinical learning for the BSC Podiatry undergraduate clinical placements.

We are fortunate to have 2 key multi-chair sites at the Adelaide health Centre in Southampton and the St Marys hospital campus in Portsmouth. These are both high specification sites with various services offering care delivery.

A relocation support package may be available for successful applicants.

Solent NHS Podiatry Service delivers care for 5CCG’s throughout the Hampshire area. Solent NHS Podiatry services covers a large geographic area and is divided into a West locality in Southampton covering approximately 15 sites from the New forest and across Southampton city centre to the east of the city. The East locality is Portsmouth based but stretches from Fareham across the city to the Petersfield borders. The position would be based in one or both of these localities. Due to the rural geographical locations of our locality any applicant must have appropriate transport to get to any of these locations.

We have a very knowledgeable and experienced team who are leaders nationally and are pivotal in ensuring that their knowledge and support is shared with the team.

We have an active research team and the department is regularly involved in audit to shape the future of our services which we would encourage you to become involved in.
