MSK Physiotherapist - First Contact Practitioner (FCP) (Fixed Term One Year)

Band 7Full time 37.5 hours

Base: Primary practice-multiple GP surgeries across North West Surrey, up to four days weekly, with ability to work from home up to two days per week. If service demands will also work from Ashford Hospital or Woking Community Hospital part of week.

The opportunity has arisen to recruit an experienced musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapist to join our established outpatient Physiotherapy / FCP services at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals.

You will to work closely with the MSK clinical leads and GP Federation to evaluate and develop the FCP service. The Band 7 FCP job plan will include your progression through the FCP roadmap to practice. You will have the opportunity to supervise Band 6 team members. You will attend our monthly ½ day musculoskeletal in-service training programme and have the opportunity to lead on specialist topics. You will be expected to work closely with colleagues in the MSK and Advanced clinical practitioner teams to design and complete Quality Improvement projects.

This year we have relocated some of our Out-Patient Physiotherapy Services to Riverbourne Gym, Chertsey and Egham Orbit. This has given our team and patients the ability to access modern gym rehabilitation equipment and classes within the community.

We have a large, established Band 8a Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) team working within the iMSK service as a point of triage to asses and diagnose patients, both face to face and virtually, and direct them to appropriate services. Three of these ACP’s are embedded in the MSK department and one of these will provide you with clinical supervision. You will need to have the ability to use your initiative, communicate with sensitivity and empathy and be an effective team worker with sound organisational abilities.

You will be required to participate in the Orthopaedic rota at weekends and bank holidays.

Despite the team being spread across different sites we regularly organise external events, so you can get to know the socially vibrant team!

Our main sites are Ashford Hospital, TW15 3AA near to Heathrow Airport and St Peter’s Hospital, KT16 0RQ which is close to junction 11, M25. We also operate services at Woking Bradley Unit and Milford Hospital. A free shuttle bus service operates between Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals.
