QE Facilities (QEF) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT) based in the North East of England.

We provide a range of non-clinical services to GHNT and other NHS organisations. Our services include Estates, Facilities Services, Procurement, Medical Engineering, Endoscopy Decontamination and Sterile Services, Transport, Outpatient Pharmacy and Prevention & Management of Violence & Aggression (PMVA) training.  In addition, we provide consultancy services advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice. 

Job Title:         Medical Devices Training Officer

Salary:             £29,910 per annum (depending upon experience)

Hours:             37.5 hours per week

Contract:        Permanent

Location:        Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead and community sites 

QE Facilities are seeking to recruit a Medical Devices Training Officer within our Medical Devices Training department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the optimal and safe application and use of medical devices across the Trust, working closely with the organisation’s diverse range of clinical services and clinical professionals. As this is a new service, the post holder will play a vital role in establishing and developing the service.

The successful candidate will play an essential role in the development, implementation and continued improvement of comprehensive systems of competency management that consistently ensure safe and optimal use of medical devices throughout the Trust. Additionally, they will be a source of authoritative advice for clinical, technical and managerial staff on medical device usage, upkeep and safety issues. They may also support strategic planning, product evaluation, safety action and incident investigation activities relating to medical devices.

Principal duties will include needs assessment, planning and delivery of competency-based training, including the management of other approved training providers.

You must have at least 2 years’ experience working with medical devices and be both self-motivated and enthusiastic. A rigorous approach and attention to detail with a high degree of safety awareness is essential.

A full UK car driving license is desirable as the post will involve driving to our external sites and training venues within the surrounding areas.

You will also need to be confident in using IT applications such as Word, Excel & Outlook.
