Senior Clinical Research Nurse

Job Reference: 349-RES-3223678

Employer:
Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust
Department:
Research
Location:
Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester
Salary:
£31,365 - £37,890 per annum

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 25,000 staff.

We are responsible for running a family of ten hospitals across seven separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

Our vision is to improve the health and quality of life of our diverse population by building an organisation that:

  • Excels in quality, safety, patient experience, research, innovation and teaching
  • Attracts, develops and retains great people
  • Is recognised internationally as a leading healthcare provider.

Are you a dynamic, self-motivated experienced Nurse looking for a new and exciting challenge that would, in these rapidly changing times, allow you to contribute to, amongst other things, patient centred Urgent Public Health COVID research? Then why not consider joining the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) Greater Manchester’s Core Delivery Team.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic registered nurse, with proven clinical experience who is capable of supporting local teams in delivering research, both covid and specialty specific, across the CRN: Greater Manchester region.

This role is dynamic, variable and varies from many other research nurse roles, in that whilst the post is based at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust you will be assigned to work with any of the research teams and sites across our network, which may include primary care and social care, depending on where support is most needed. You must, therefore, be flexible with shift patterns to cover study demands and must be willing and able to travel independently between sites and further afield as the service requires.

You will need to hold the skills to take a proactive approach to supporting clinical research studies including, but not exclusively, gaining consent, recruiting patients and collecting samples alongside clinical duties whilst providing the highest quality patient care.

You will be instrumental in implementing study objectives and will provide dedicated support to ensure that studies are delivered to time and target. You will need to support the management of research studies and identify and recruit participants within the relevant organisations and so effective communication and team working skills are essential. You will be involved in ensuring that research undertaken safeguards the well-being of patients and is undertaken within Good Clinical Practice Guidelines. This support requires flexibility and ability to adapt to a fast paced and changing environment.

In this instance, we are prioritising experience (clinical and research) across a range of specialties.

If you are a level 1 Registered Nurse with a positive attitude to ensuring research participants receive the best possible care, we'd love to hear from you.

A comprehensive induction, orientation and training will be provided for successful candidates. We will also ensure that you have tailored, individual personal development plans with support for further training.

We stress that shortlisting will be carried out according to the person specification, so please construct your personal statement accordingly when applying.
