The Leeds Children's Continuing Care Team specialises in offering children and young people skilled nursing care, palliative care and advanced technical support within their home or other community settings. The focus of the team is enabling children and young people to achieve their identified and agreed outcomes by providing a flexible and personalised bespoke package of care.

We are looking to employ an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Staff Nurse to work in our large and busy team. The role combines being office based where you will be responsible for ensuring a 24 hour quality safe service is provided and sustained. You will undertake recruitment and selection Datix investigations and risk assessments as part of this role. You will have direct line management responsibility for a skilled mixed team of staff and case management responsibility for the children on your specific caseload. You will have responsibility for compiling duty rotas, allocating appropriately trained staff to packages of care. You will facilitate training and development of staff and ensure ongoing staff competence is achieved/maintained to ensure high standards of care continue to be delivered. The clinical element of the post is training and assessing of staff this is predominantly delivered in the home environment including training for Personal Health Budgets, annual updates for parents e.g. tracheostomy care and Long Term Ventilation training and updates for Education staff.

The post is predominantly Monday to Friday working one weekend per month to maintain 7 day Senior Staff Nurse cover for the service this may include Bank Holidays.

You will be a car owner/driver, or have suitable alternative transport to enable you to undertake the job. (It is unlikely that public transport will meet this requirement). If necessary adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

The ideal candidate will be confident in their skills and abilities and able to work autonomously and as part of a team, have excellent communication skills specifically around having difficult conversations, time management and leadership skills, experience of safeguarding and have strong resilience. They will be kind caring and compassionate and work within the LCH Vision and Values.
