This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced registered nurse to join the Research & Innovation (R&I) research delivery workforce at University Hospitals of Leicester.

University Hospitals of Leicester hosts the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre and the NIHR Clinical Research Facilities including the Hope Facility, a centre of excellence in oncology and haematology research and the Clinical Renal Research Unit, a leading centre in national recruitment of patients in clinical trials. In partnership with University of Leicester and Loughborough University, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust have been awarded a total of £12.7 million from 2017-2022 for a Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and a Clinical Research Facility (CRF) by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). The five year funding package will see the continuation of specialist research in respiratory, cardiovascular and lifestyle research whilst the CRF will support the continuation of research programmes across other areas such as emergency care, MSK, gastroenterology, hepatology, dementia, renal, surgery, children and women.

There are close relationships between the BRC Themes, University of Leicester and UHL clinical areas across the 3 sites. Funding from the Clinical Research Network (CRN) will support the delivery of research programmes across all specialties at UHL.

  • The Leicester Diabetes Centre is committed to growing international research, education and innovation, and is one of the largest facilities in Europe for conducting first class clinical research in diabetes.
  • A cardiovascular translational medicine facility (TMF)
  • Clinical Research Facilities (cardiovascular, respiratory, lifestyle) including renal research satellite dialysis sites
  • A state of the art imaging service
  • A strong informatics platform
  • The Leicester Cardiovascular Bio-resource (LCB).
  • The Hope Clinical Trials Facility is a dedicated area for patients participating in clinical research studies, particularly those at the early stages of development.
  • The Research Space (Adult & Children) is a dedicated day care research area providing the highest quality research support facilities and service for the benefit of all patients within the NHS

All research facilities are designed to deliver clinical effectiveness, safety and a positivepatient/volunteer experience in a consistent way.
