Do you want to develop a career as a Diabetes Dietitian in an acute outpatient setting?

A vacancy has arisen in our well established Leicestershire diabetes nutrition and dietetic team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, active team player with good communication skills to join our dedicated team of four Diabetes Dietitians working as core members of a dynamic Diabetes Service. The adult and transitional diabetes service come under the Emergency and Specialist Medicine Clinical Management Group, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, one of the largest teaching Trusts in the country based at the Leicester General Hospital site in a dedicated diabetes centre.

This exciting and diverse role will provide an opportunity to develop further your skills in advising patients with diabetes on a one to one basis and within a group setting dealing with more complex diabetes cases. You will be working within a well-defined multi-professional team.

This post will either be a training post to start your career off in diabetes dietetics with rebanding after completion of a training and competency based programme after approximately 9-12 months or a Senior post with previous diabetes experience.

Further responsibilities will include involvement in the pre-registration training of Dietitians as we provide B and C clinical placements and you will play an active part in this. We also have a training commitment to other healthcare professional’s e.g. medical and nursing students, carers and patient groups which will provide the opportunity to develop excellent teaching and presentation skills.

We are a progressive service which actively contributes to the Trusts Quality Improvement agenda.

The service is committed to CPD and personal development and has well defined clinical supervision systems in place.
