Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) provides a range of community health, mental health and learning disability services for people of all ages. Delivered through over 100 settings from inpatient wards to out in the community, our 6,500 staff serves over 1m people living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

We have a vacancy in the Leicestershire Home Enteral Nutrition Service (HENS) team for an enthusiastic and motivated dietitian who wishes to support patients and families managing enteral tube feeding at home. The post holder will manage a caseload of paediatric patients, although there may be opportunities for involvement with adult patients.

The HENS team is part of the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) Nutrition and Dietetic Service, and provides services to adult and paediatric patients resident in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland who require Enteral Nutrition at home. The LPT Nutrition and Dietetic service as a whole covers a broad scope of dietetic work in addition to Home Enteral Nutrition, including adult and paediatric outpatient clinics, domiciliary visits, inpatients, mental health and learning disabilities, specialist weight management services, and work with nurseries and schools.

The friendly and supportive HENS team includes Dietitians, a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner, Dietetic Support Workers and administrative staff. Team remits include pre-discharge training and preparation, post-discharge monitoring, coordination of supplies of feed and equipment, maintenance of enteral feeding tubes, and provision of a trouble-shooting service for families and professionals. We have close working relationships with the wide network of healthcare, social care and education professionals involved with our patients.

Previous experience in clinical paediatrics is required for this post. You will also need excellent communication skills and a proactive ‘hands on’ working style, equipping you to work collaboratively with patients, carers, and professionals. HENS team support will be provided to enable the successful applicant to further develop skills and knowledge relating to paediatric enteral nutrition as required. There is also an established service-wide paediatric Continuing Professional Development forum and close working relationship with the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust Dietitians, providing more general opportunities for development. The service has a growing involvement in research and audit, and is also involved in the pre-registration placements for student dietitians undertaking A, B and C placements.

The post will be based in the Leicestershire Nutrition and Dietetic Service Headquarters, close to the M1/M69 junction. Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car during working hours.
