Norfolk Wellbeing Service, Suffolk Wellbeing Service, Therapy for You, Vita Minds, Total Wellbeing, Bedfordshire Wellbeing Service, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, Insight Healthcare and Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust are engaging in a joint recruitment project across the East of England for our IAPT services. We are different IAPT providers working to deliver psychological therapies as part of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies initiative. This is a cooperative enterprise between the organisations to help streamline the recruitment of the IAPT workforce and to seek the best quality candidates for all services.

East of England IAPT Partnership are hosting this vacancy which covers multiple IAPT providers as detailed below -

Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

Salary £21,892 - £24,157* moving to £24,907 - £30,615 upon qualification*

*Different employers may have different starting salaries, terms and conditions.

37.5 Hours per week, some evenings/weekends.

Permanent contract subject to successful completion of the course within 12 months*.

*Trainees who successfully complete all elements of the course typically receive confirmation of qualification approximately one year after beginning training.

The Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner will be a core member of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Service.

The role of a PWP is demanding and fast paced. Empathy, resilience and excellent organisational skills are essential qualities. Trainees are expected to progress to working with a high degree of autonomy, with high volume caseloads including individual and group work; this may include telephony, video consultation, and face-to-face clinical work. The role is well supported with weekly clinical and case management supervision from qualified clinicians. In addition to clinical contact, the roles will include data collection, data management, analysis and note writing.

Applicants will need experience of working with people who have experienced mental ill health. Applicants should have a good understanding of IAPT and the role of a PWP.

The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

In person treatment and virtual/telephone consultations are in place across IAPT services in line with the individual service policy and Covid 19 government guidelines.

You don’t need a degree to be a PWP! This vacancy covers two training routes and qualifications:

Graduate Certificate in Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner route for those who hold a Level 5 qualification or the relevant skills and experience.

Post Graduate Certificate in Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner route for those who hold a relevant undergraduate degree.

Suitable candidates are provided with intensive training and supervision to work in the Trainee PWP role and will study with one of the below universities. For more details on which university is affiliated with each service please see the additional documents section.

The University of Essex (expected 4th October start) or The University of East Anglia (expected 6th September start)

Three days per week will be spent in service gaining invaluable experience assessing and working with people from local communities and two days per week studying with the university. This may be a combination of in person and remote learning.

Those without a valid permit to work and study in the UK are not eligible to apply for this position.

Candidates who have previously been accepted onto/undertaken a PWP training course must declare it.

All applicants must have the ability to travel independently as required.

Interviews expected between 5 - 23 July 2021. The remote interview panel will consist of service and university representatives.

Interviews may include a role play and/or presentation, further information will be given prior to interview.

Minimum Qualifications Required

Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner jobs are open to people who have the relevant qualifications, please only apply if you meet the minimum requirements. If you are unsure if you meet these please get in contact with us.

Postgraduate certificate route-

All candidates must have an undergraduate degree.

Graduate Certificate route-

All candidates must normally have a Level 5 qualification or the relevant skills and experience.
