We are looking for a highly motivated, approachable and tactful Business Support Team Secretary for our Diabetes Team based at St Mary’s Community Campus, Portsmouth.

Our priority is finding the right type of person who shares our values of patients first, working together and always improving; someone with the ability and attitude to grow and develop in the Trust as a valued member of our team.

The Community Diabetes team offer an advisory service. We support primary care and the community teams with their complex patients with Diabetes, including those with Type 1. Run clinics alongside Practice nurses in Portsmouth City offering advice and education. Support the community nurses with joint home visits and education. We also provide advice and education to residential and nursing home staff and carers. We are trained educators for the DESMOND programme, a national accredited programme for those newly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Alongside this, we offer refresher patient education groups and an annual patient conference.

Job Responsibilities

To provide comprehensive administrative support to the service. To work as part of a skill mix team to provide a comprehensive administrative support service.

To effectively prioritise and manage own workload and oversee workload of team as necessary, whilst maintaining confidentiality and diplomacy at all times, both independently and as part of a team.

To work without direct supervision and show extensive use of initiative in prioritising and making decisions in relation to effectively supporting the smooth operation of the service.

All duties will be carried out within the Trust’s Information Governance, recording, and data sharing procedures and guidance.
