An exciting opportunity has arisen for an energetic, enthusiastic and experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to work as one of the Senior BMS’s in Blood Transfusion

We are looking for a member of staff with a positive outlook and strong leadership skills to have an integral part in the operational management of our small but busy Blood Transfusion department.

The successful applicant will have an awareness of Blood Safety and Quality Regulations and all relevant guidelines and will have knowledge of the MHRA requirements for a Transfusion Laboratory.

The post holder will lead the day to day routine operation of the Blood Transfusion Service in conjunction with the Blood Transfusion Manager, Consultant Haematologists and the Transfusion Specialist team. This is a leadership role the successful candidate will not participate in the provision of the out of hours service.

The department of Blood Sciences is UKAS accredited to ISO 15189, holds IBMS training approval until 2023 and is committed to maintaining this as part of a wider hospital network in the South West. The department uses Q-Pulse for quality management.

You must hold an MSc or equivalent qualification i.e FIBMS. You will have previous experience working as a Senior BMS or be an experienced Band 6 with evidence of involvement in management and development of a laboratory.
