Somerset NHS Foundation Trust

£31,365 - £37,890 per annum, pro rata

Chance to train in IAPT-compliant therapy

Counsellors / Psychotherapists
Band 6, permanent (full time - or minimum 4 days/week)

WE ARE a busy IAPT service in one of England’s most desirable counties. We are seeking applications from therapists with IAPT-compliant qualifications - ideally Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) or Counselling for Depression (CfD) but Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) is also of interest - or those willing and able to train in IPT or CfD.

We offer other time-limited Step 3 interventions (eg. HICBT, EMDR & Mindfulness) as well as innovative Step 2 treatments, such as therapeutic groups, webinars, and a digital self-help portal. We also provide interventions for more complex presentations outside of IAPT.

WE OFFER the opportunity to make a difference to the wellbeing of a diverse population and to work amidst supportive and friendly colleagues and dependable managerial and clinical leaders. Regular managerial support, clinical supervision, CPD opportunities, a generous relocation scheme and a secure pension plan are complemented by a range of additional benefits available under the NHS employment benefits scheme. We operate from and around four bases (Wells, Taunton, Chard/Yeovil and Bridgwater).

Many in our team have joined us from other parts of the country, not the least because of the countless advantages life in Somerset can offer. Not far from bustling metropolitan areas, such as Bath, Bristol, and Exeter or the beautiful seaside, the county is rich in stunning and tranquil locations. Many appreciate that the cost of living and housing is considerably lower here than in the city and families value the safety of Somerset as well as the multitude of clubs, centres, and cultural venues where they and their children can get involved . Colleges and a number of excellent schools ensure good educational opportunities.

WE WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU if you are a motivated, flexible, self-directed psychological therapist with existing professional accreditation (for instance, BACP, NCS, UKCP or BPS). You must be able to offer an IAPT-compliant modality in IAPT, which means you must either

(1) already be an IAPT-accredited therapist

(2) be working towards IAPT-compliant accreditation, having completed the appropriate practitioner training course and currently completing your accreditation cases, or

(3) be an experienced accredited therapist who is familiar with IAPT and be willing and able to successfully complete IPT practitioner training or CfD training as a contractual part of your appointment. Such training and its required supervision will be funded internally.

This position may require flexible hours between 8am until 8pm and will work with a caseload of up to 25 booked clinical contacts per week (pro rata).

As part of the interview process, you will be required to bring the following with you: Proof of any essential qualifications stated on the Job Description, proof of NHS payslip if coming from another NHS Organisation and all ID to prove your identity and Right to Work (More details will follow for successful applicants invited to interview)
