Job Specific Location/Base: Block B, First Floor Outpatients Department, St Mary’s Community Campus, Portsmouth

Hours per week: 30 hours per week – days negotiable but must be able to work Thursday and Friday. Fixed term contract for 12 months to cover maternity leave.


We are looking for a highly motivated, approachable and tactful Business Support Team Secretary to work in two posts over the course of the week. This is for our Bladder and Bowel services dealing with all Admin regarding the Clinical outpatient’s side. Also working for the Pulmonary Rehab Team working at a Band 3 level dealing with all administration work throughout the day.

The Portsmouth Bladder and Bowel Community service delivers high quality care which is clinically led and includes both Nursing and physio staff. It provides a service for Adults over the age of 18 who are registered with a GP within the Portsmouth area. We accept referrals for male and females with bladder and bowel dysfunction with or without associated incontinence.

Portsmouth Pulmonary Rehabilitation services provides an education and exercise programme for patients with a confirmed lung condition (COPD, Bronchiectasis, and Interstitial Lung Diseases) in Portsmouth, Fareham & Gosport, South East Hampshire, and North Hampshire. This allows our patients to learn strategies to manage their lung condition and have a more active future.

You will be an integral part of the team for both the Bladder and Bowel Team and the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team. You will ensure that systems and processes are running smoothly and are documented, staff are supported, the admin is staffed with cover in place where required and that the Clinical Staff for the Outpatients Department are supported from an adminstration perspective along with other duties noted in the job description attached.

You will have a caring and courteous manner and enjoy working with a variety of staff of different levels. You will also need to be able to work unsupervised and at peak times able to prioritise a varied workload. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who can work effectively using their own initiative.
