Job Specific Location/Base: Highpoint Venue, Burseldon Road, Southampton, SO19 8BR, although currently working remotely / at home

Solent NHS Trust is looking for a qualified individual and experienced Information Governance Lead. This role is to take the Operation and Managerial Lead of the Information Governance Team, working to support the Head of Information Governance and Security (Data Protection Officer) in ensuring all legal requirements and mandatory requirements of Data Protection and supporting legislation, are implemented, across the Trust to a high standard.

For this post, you will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to the use of a car.

The Information Governance Teams main responsibilities and duties are to work and support all staff and services within the Trust, to ensure that they are educated in Data Protection and supporting legislation, that this is adhered to and we support our staff in protecting all data held by the organisation.

Additionally, we are here to support patients, staff and the wider communicate, in understanding and exercising their rights, accessing information they are entitled to and providing an open and transparent environment, with regards to how we process data.

Our main working collaborations are all clinical and non-clinical services, as Information Governance is a key principle in all working practices; as well as external Health and Social Care partners, to support transition of care and integrated care working. Working with and supporting the wider public is also key to our work.

Job Responsibilities

  • Management of the Information Governance Team
  • Identify High risk or Serious Information Governance incidents that meet the threshold for an incident review meeting
  • To ensure that the Trust continues to have a robust security and confidentiality programme in line with national Data Protection requirements
  • Providing advice and guidance to the organisation, independent contractors and the public on Data Protection legislation, and where appropriate providing briefing documents based on interpretation of NHS guidance and applicable legislation

Personal Skills/Qualities

  • Specialist qualification in Information Governance / Data Protection or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Experience being an being an Information Governance Lead
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Experience in leading and implementing change
