An exciting opportunity has arisen within Solent NHS Trust West, Southampton to appoint inspirational and enthusiastic qualified Nurses / Midwife, to complete the BSc (Hons) or Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip) in Public Health Nursing at The University Of Surrey.

The successful candidate will become part of the Public health workforce in Southampton, delivering the 0 - 19 public health agenda within Solent NHS trust. Either working as a Health Visitor with the 0-5 age group or a Public Health Nurse working with the 5-19 age group. Applications are invited from Registered Nurses, Midwives and Registered Mental Health Nurses to undertake this training, which will ultimately lead to registration on Part 3 of the NMC Register. Essential Requirements are registration at first level Nurse or Midwife with the NMC and with a minimum of 120 credits at level 5 (Diploma) for BSc course or first level degree (2.2 or above) for PGDip Course.

The course commences in September 2021 until September 2022. It is a 1 year fixed term contract.

During this full calendar year your time will be divided between 50% academic study at The University of Surrey, and 50% practical placement. Both elements of training need to be successfully achieved for registration on Part 3 of the register.

Your contract of employment and practice placement will be in Southampton. You will need to identify your preference for Health Visiting working with families and children 0 to 5 years or Public Health Nursing (School Nursing) 5 to 19 years.

As a SCPHN Student, you will be part of an innovative approach to Early Help and Prevention, working alongside multi agency and Local Authority colleagues.You will be training to ultimately lead the delivery of care pre-birth to 19 years (dependant on discipline chosen), to improve outcomes for our most vulnerable families. As a student you will work under the direction and supervision of a Practice Teacher and Mentor.

A full driving licence and use of a vehicle is essential. The post is subject to Occupational Health clearance and an enhanced DBS check. Evidence of recent study is also required.
