The Building Resilience and Strength team (BRS) is a unique specialist mental health service for children and young people in crisis.

It is one of several CAMHS teams in Southampton and works in close partnership with extended teams across Sp CAMHS and CAMHS liaison. As an integrated multi agency service we hold close working partnerships across both Solent NHS trust and Southampton City Council, bringing together a range of colleagues from across professional backgrounds to meet the diverse needs of children and young people we work with.

The service provides short to medium term high intensity intervention with the aim of preventing hospital admission or placement breakdown. Multi agency partnership working is strong within Southampton and this is well demonstrated by this long-standing service made up of a wide range of multi-agency professionals demonstrating the positive outcomes that can be achieved for young people when health, social care and education work cohesively together.

We are excited to offer a position for a Senior Nurse as we continue to push the boundaries on the services we offer in order to deliver high quality mental health services for children, young people and their families.

You will be joining a well-established nursing team which crosses our four CAMH Services, led by a Nurse Consultant and lead nurses in each of the settings. We place immense value on the contribution of nurses in our services and as such are committed to the development of a strong governance structure which offers high quality training, supervisions and career development opportunities In your first year with us we will support you to access essential skills training in both DBT and CBT.

Do you have:

  • A desire to be innovative and creative in meeting the needs of children, young people and families at a point of crisis?
  • The ability to work within a team and forge good working relationships with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency colleagues?
  • Experience of undertaking effective risk assessment, risk management and collaborative working with young people and families?
  • Experience of working in a mental health setting with leadership, management and supervisory responsibilities?
  • Great communication skills with young people and with colleagues from different sectors?

We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Nurse who is caring, compassionate and committed to providing excellent care for young people and their families. You will offer a psychiatric perspective to the multi-agency team through therapeutic work, consultation, peer supervision, joint work and participation in team meetings. You will be committed to delivering high quality care through evidence based practice and in return we will demonstrate our commitment to your development through strong supervision and CPD opportunities.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and highly motivated with excellent communication skills and experience of working within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, or closely linked settings.
