Job Title – Assistant Category Tower Manager

Function – Supply Chain

Location – Nottingham City Centre (with working from home options)

Type – 12 month fixed term contract (full time, 37.5 hours per week)

Salary – £30,000 - £35,000 per annum

NHS Supply Chain is a £2.1bn turnover healthcare / supply chain business which has ambitious growth plans in place and is set to increase its market share from c. 50% to 80% over the next 2-3 years.

Due to an internal move, we have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Category Tower Manager to join us on a fixed term basis for 12 months. Working with our Category Tower Service Providers (CTSPs) for Clinical Consumables and Wound Care, this is a role where you make can make a difference to the NHS, using your skills to be part of a journey as we release £2.4bn back to the NHS so it can be used in front line patient care. Day to day, you will support the Category Tower Manager (CTM) in the day to day contract and performance management of the Category Tower Service Provider (CTSP), which includes administrative support in the development and delivery of the category management strategy activities. You will provide ongoing support to the CTM who is responsible for the overall spend for the Category Tower, which is set to grow in-line with growth in market share.

What does an Assistant Category Tower Manager do at NHS Supply Chain?

  • Supports the contract and performance management of the CTSP in scope
  • Provides support to ensure category management strategies are developed with the requirements of the customer at their core
  • Supports CTSP monthly management governance meetings, being responsible for capturing and issuing actions, minutes and ownership of the monthly meeting schedule, aligning with the CTSP and internal SCCL stakeholders.
  • Provides support to the CTM to ensure that all procurement activity by the in scope CTSP is delivered effectively. This includes compliance with public sector requirements in relation to this type of activity
  • Supports with monitoring the performance of the CTSP in scope, effectively resolving or escalating issues and concerns further as needed to prevent crises
  • To support investigations into the root

What skills, qualifications and qualities do I need to be successful?

  • Self-motivating and able to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Excellent communicator, able to manage stakeholders
  • Previous experience within data analytics and reporting
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Highly organised
  • By no means essential it would be preferable if you had an awareness of the NHS environment and key challenges, or; Category Management, or; Strategic Sourcing
