Community Division

Community Therapy


3..00 WTE (37.5hr /week)

The Isle of Wight NHS Trust is offering an opportunity for a senior Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to work within established therapy teams within the community Division on a rotational basis. These posts will support care delivered within the following areas:

  • Secondary care
  • Acute Community Care
  • Longer term community based rehabilitation

The posts have been created to support initiatives aimed at minimising time spent in hospital, specifically to work within hospital based and acute community therapy teams to ensure that patients can be supported:

  1. On the Discharge to Assess pathway as part of the system wide response to mininimse time spent in an acute hospital bed
  2. Provision of an urgent community response to provide step up care aimed at reducing the need for hospitalisation as part of the wider urgent community response team.

Therefore it is likely that the posts will initially sit within acute community based services view a view to rotation into longer term community based rehabilitation later on.

The posts offer an opportunity for personal and professional development within an established service; supported by an informed multi-disciplinary team. The post seeks an enthusiastic applicant willing to develop within the service which integrates acute and community services. The applicant will act as a highly specialised clinical resource and support to a wide range of disciplines, agencies and carers by providing specialist knowledge and skills.

Interested applicants need to evidence: current senior level clinical practice within this specialism of work, be HCPC registered, have current UK NHS experience and be able to evidence comprehensive post-graduate CPD to support this specialism. Developing colleagues or students is part of the role as well as clinical leadership. The Trust offers a commitment to supporting ongoing professional development.
