The Theatre Unit at RJAH comprises of 12 Theatres; 10 are located in the main theatre unit and 2 in our ‘Menzies’ unit, alongside a Recovery unit, a HDU and an on-site TSSU. We cover a wide spectrum of primarily elective Orthopaedic surgery including, but not exclusively, Revision & Primary Arthroplasty, Upper limb, Lower Limb, Sports Injuries, Spines, Tumour and Paediatrics.

Who we’re looking for...

Trainee Assistant Practitioner

In partnership with Birmingham City University, this post will give the opportunity to achieve a Certificate in Higher Education (HE) or Foundation degree with relevant clinical radiographic modules, including Principles of personal and professional development, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic radiography for assistant practitioners, physics for radiography practitioners, evidence based healthcare, becoming a paraprofessional, leadership and change management in heath social care, advanced diagnostic radiography for assistant practitioners and service users journey through imaging.

During your training, as part of the General X-Ray and Fluoroscopy team, you will work alongside Radiographers to take part in a range of both routine and specialist x-ray examinations, including Arthroplasty, Sports Injury, Tumour, Paediatrics, Spinal Disorders, Spinal Injuries & Research.

Hours to be worked are Monday-Friday 08:30am to 5:00pm, with 1 day a week at University.

This is a fixed term post and will come to an end when you have completed your qualification (2 years)

In order to be considered, you must hold relevant qualification (NVQ 3 in Diagnostic & Therapeutic Support or equivalent or similar certification or evidence of personal development or three years’ experience as a Radiographic Assistant)
