The Theatre Unit at RJAH comprises of 12 Theatres; 10 are located in the main theatre unit and 2 in our ‘Menzies’ unit, alongside a Recovery unit, a HDU and an on-site TSSU. We cover a wide spectrum of primarily elective Orthopaedic surgery including, but not exclusively, Revision & Primary Arthroplasty, Upper limb, Lower Limb, Sports Injuries, Spines, Tumour and Paediatrics.

Who we’re looking for...

An opportunity has arisen for a full time Librarian to join the Library & Knowledge Team at RJAH. We are looking for an enthusiastic, positive, experienced and motivated professionally qualified librarian to join us. This post offers an exciting opportunity to join a successful and experienced NHS LKS team delivering high quality and much valued library services to staff and students across a specialist orthopaedic Trust. Our mission is to ensure all Trust staff and students have access to and can make use of the knowledge base to underpin patient care, service improvement, education, lifelong learning, research and innovation

In partnership with the Senior Librarian you will work across the Trust, engaging with staff to prove that proactive information services can save them time and help them do their jobs better, ensuring the delivery of world class patient care. This will include the delivery of expert searches and targeted current awareness. You will also deliver training programmes in evidence-based information seeking. You will have strong literature searching skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You’ll be a good communicator, sharing responsibility for marketing and promotion at group inductions and Trust events, facilitating access to networked and web based services including NHS OpenAthens and link resolver administration, delivering and developing current awareness services, tailored to customer’s requirements.

The post holder will be expected to act with a degree of autonomy, using considerable initiative to develop the role, and adopting excellent public relations and marketing skills to promote the Library & Knowledge Service; supporting teams and individuals in engaging with the evidence base and creating and maintaining positive working and customer relationships.

Contributing to monitoring the effectiveness and quality of the library service is also a key element of this post.
