Location:

Salary:

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is now one of the largest trusts in the country, serving a population of 1.2 million people. Our newly formed Trust, comprising acute hospital sites at Broomfield in Chelmsford, Basildon and Southend, is determined to provide the best health services for its local population. We are a well-led, high-performing and innovative organisation working in the best interests of the people we serve.

With a workforce of approximately 15,000 staff, we can now do more and go further in delivering health services to our local communities.

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

Patients will experience improved care as well as fewer delays and cancellations. We are able to provide more once-in-a-lifetime specialist care region-wide. With our new trust size will come more opportunities for development, research, networking and innovation.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.

We will deliver safe and high-quality services and be an employer of choice for our workforce.

We are ‘one team, working together’.

The Mid and South Essex Health and Care Partnership is our integrated care system. It brings together key health and care organisations across the area, including our acute trust, Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, three upper tier Local Authorities, three community/mental health providers, five CCGs working with over 150 GP practices, and a range of partner organisations. We have a bold ambition to deliver improved outcomes for our 1.2m population and we are placing innovation at the heart of realizing this ambition.

The Improvement and Change Team within Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the centre of support for delivery of the Trusts strategy, helping secure the best value from transformation, improvement and redesign activity, and building the discipline of robust measurement and evaluation across our organisations. It focuses energy and secures impact through well-designed, engaging and professionally managed projects and robust programmes, which have clearly described benefits and relevance to the success of our organisation.

At present the Trust, internally and in partnership across our System, is undertaking a number of significant areas of improvement work with an aim of securing organisational and local system sustainability, delivering on our existing clinical strategy, and growing a culture of quality improvement. Following public consultation and decision for the acute services clinical strategy, as well as merger of the Trust to a single team in April 2020, further steps are required in order secure faster development and delivery of change across the group and better co-ordinate management activities with the Integrated Care System.

Programme Directors within our team are trusted, senior professional leaders of change, working both as a close-knit team, and working alongside Executives and clinical leaders to design and deliver complex programmes of improvement. Working with the Trust Portfolio Office, they will lead cross-site and often system-wide strategic projects and activities, enabling engagement with partner organisations and local communities to secure delivery and strengthen partnerships beneficial to our patients. The Programme Directors will support talent development and help others to undertake improvement activity, building upon skills already have in-house, enabling our plan to be an organisation that is continuously improving; leading new models of care for better patient care, better value and experience.

Key objectives of our team are to maximise our opportunities to learn, support our clinical and corporate services in continuous improvement, measurement and innovation, and better equip and support our workforce. We are seeking compassionate, inclusive, knowledgeable Programme Directors to lead change and transformation portfolios within this team, ensuring that it serves the needs of our colleagues, residents and population, and works in partnership with other clinical and corporate functions. The post-holder will take steps to create a safe and secure space for colleagues to share areas for improvement and develop ideas; they will listen and reflect, helping to empower teams and support mutual learning, and insist on a culture of transparency with colleagues in all activities wherever feasible.
