Locum Consultant in Medical Oncology with sub-speciality expertise in urological cancers at St James’s Hospital

 

This is an outstanding opportunity to join the Medical Oncology team in Leeds Teaching Hospital for a 10 PA locum appointment for a Consultant Medical Oncologist, with special interests in urological cancers and carcinoma of unknown primary. This post will be available from immediate effect for a period of six months.

 

This opportunity will see you join a highly successful and responsive team of oncologists. This post will support the Urology team - Dr Ralph, Dr Vasudev and Dr Jagdev. The post-holder will provide a 1:16 on call. There will be opportunities to contribute to the MDT and departmental meetings.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Cancer Centre (LCC) is one of the largest networked cancer centres in the UK; it serves as a tertiary cancer for the WY&H Alliance (formerly the YCN network area). It treats more than 5650 newly diagnosed patients each year and more than 17,000 treatments are delivered to patients.

 

The post will be based at Bexley Wing, St James Hospital.

 

The successful applicant should hold accreditation in Medical Oncology in the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent, and should be on the Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a training programme within the UK, or have references which have been authorised by the Deputy Medical Director and Clinical Director.

 

Applicants should have established skills in medical oncology. Excellent communication and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.
